Starting and ending in Upington in the Northern Cape, this 4 day tour explores the Augrabies Falls National Park and the Kalahari Desert of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1 – UPINGTON – AUGRABIES FALLS
Mid-morning departure from Upington, visit a local wine cellar for a short tour and wine tasting. Light lunch (for own account) at Augrabies National Park. View awesome56 metre Augrabies Waterfall coursing along 18km abyss of the rugged Orange River gorge. ‘Aukoerebis’ in San (Bushman) dialect is for ‘place of Great Noise’. Informative game drive in Augrabies Falls National Park. See succulents, birds and reptiles, springbok, gemsbok and the endangered black rhino. Overnight at Augrabies Rest Camp [D]

DAY 2 – KGALAGADI TRANSFRONTIER PARK
Early breakfast followed by a scenic drive into the Kalahari Desert. Late afternoon lunch (for own expense) at Molopo Kalahari Lodge. Continue north into the renowned Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, one of Africa’s largest conservation areas. No fences within the Park between South Africa and Botswana facilitate the natural migration of animals for optimal game viewing. Continue via ancient Auob River watercourse to the Kalahari Tented Camp. Unforgettable scenery in a prime predator habitat; enjoy sundowners overlooking the waterhole. DAY 3 – KGALAGADI – TWEE RIVIEREN
Early morning game drive & breakfast back at camp. Depart via Auob and Nossob dry riverbeds. Picnic lunch at Dikbaardskolk on the banks of the Nossob River. The remainder of the day is spent searching for the various predators that are the park’s biggest attraction en-route to Twee Rivieren. Dinner at restaurant Overnight Twee Rivieren Camp [FB]

DAY 4 – TWEE RIVIEREN – UPINGTON
Leisurely breakfast. Depart for Upington with a photo & shopping stop at San (Bushman) village and roadside craft stalls. Arrive in Upington where the tour terminates at a hotel or at Upington airport. [B]
